It's official- with the approval of my family (and my orthopedic doc:) I leave for my 4th and final attempt at the Fances Camino de Santiago! It has been #1 on my "bucket-list" for the last 6 months- after lots of planning, research and a training plan, I leave on March 18, 2012 for an eight week time span to do a 420 mile walk across Spain- I return May 12.
I leave tomorrow for a 3 week training in sunny AZ- accompanied with lots of play time with Sage and Ty.
I've chosen to go solo this time to "set my own pace" and will start out with 4-8 miles/day the first week and for the next 6 wks do 8-12 miles a day with a rest day every week.
My plan is to keep this blog for all to check in on my progress- there is usually internet sites available in cafes or alburgues. I will have a phone and can text and recieve texts (I'll post more details later ).
When" The Ladies of Spain" walked we all loved starting each day with the reading of a note that family and friends wrote- they were inspirational, funny and kept us motivated !! I would love if you would send me some- keep them small-I have to carry them a looooong way!!
