They Made It Home!

Their plane landed 15 minutes early and we're having Chicken Tacos for dinner.  Hopefully they'll get a good sleep.

Wonderful

Plans

Out the window. We are having to improvise. Monday we will have to stay in Dublin instead of Galway. I wanted to wing it but the men insisted on reservations. So their last nite will be the same place as their first nite. That's a nice touch now that I think about it. We are killing time waiting for our LOBSTER dinner. Mary the Bed and Breakfast lady says it's fresh from the sea. I wonder if it will be the whole thing and I have to rip it apart.

Kameron is trying hard to text a girl he met last nite in Kilkenny. No go so far.

So killing time...killing time.

Found it on the beach

Not Since 1995

Meteorologists have confirmed that the country is now suffering a drought as it has been 16 days since rain has fallen in almost every part of Ireland. Demand for water is up one third as people turn hosepipes on their gardens, take prolonged showers and fill paddling pools. Not since 1995 has the country had such a prolonged spell of dry weather.

I packed all wrong but it's all good :)

Psycho Showers

Honest. It cycled from cold to warm to hot to SCALDING to cold then repeated the cycle.  It never quit. Thank goodness I could get out of the way when called for.

I never. This takes the cake.

Kilkenny Castle

This is the door handle to the toilet!
I goggled the restaurant on this tourist recommendation site. It didn't disappoint. But I budgeted all wrong. I brought cash like we did in Spain but it was to be our food $. Instead a lot has gone to hostels and taxis. They
don't take credit cards. Bank is next stop.

Supper...unchristened

A former unchristened church is now a restaurant in Cashel. Really good food.

Rock of Cashel

The men were figuring out the date on the stone. My photo looks Sistine chapel-ly I think:)

Mashed potatoes and sausage

That's the problem. I don't eat mashed and a few bites does me on sausage.

So today it's not gonna be bangers and mash or any pie.

The men want to go to a sit down restaurant.

Scratch the hiking

It's suicide  to walk the roads. We taxied instead. But come Friday we hope to get hiking in by Galway.

Travel day

We just arrived at Cashel. We will be seeing the Rock tomorrow. Chill out afternoon. Good wifi here where we're staying.
My first Irish whiskey on trip. Very good.

We Do Indeed

Music to my ears. "Do you serve breakfast" . SAVED from McDonald's .  I ordered a "full Irish breakfast" (see picture )

Breakfast chatter. I'm buying a barrel of whiskey and saving it for my 30th birthday. Grandma you are officially washing the clothes. Kameron couldn't find the dryer so are clothes are damp.

God I love this!

Thought

I hate to write but I so enjoy doing these posts. Must be you guys. You make the difference. Xo

Tomorrow

We hit the road. Bus trip to Bunratty Castle. Today was such fun. The Book of Kells is a very old manuscript consisting of 4 books that were started about 1000 years ago. Guinness Storehouse is a beautiful showcase of the process of the beer which uses 2/3 of the crop in Ireland for the main ingredient...barley I think it is. And Riverdance was great. Can't get more Irish than that.

But I truly am ready to get out of the city. Get to the smaller towns. Weather has been great. No rain yet.

The Surge

I got my certificate. I poured a perfect pint of Guinness! That was really fun. It is a 5 step process believe it or not. The surge is the 4th step. That's after you fill it 3/4 full. You literally watch it surge. It changes color. See picture. We all poured one after the other so the glasses are in different readiness for the final step.

London Shows

We saw Phantom of the Opera and Wicked. Both were 10''s. It's been almost 25 years at the theater and the shows are still booked full for Phantom. Wicked will be the same I think. It's that good.

The Emerald Island

Oh I forgot the plane story. I sort of had it wrong. The plane arrived in Ireland at 10. I thought it took off at ten and started the day with that timetable. Little did I know our table was VERY tight. So we were running to it! They closed the doors 5 minutes after we got on. :/
Oh do I love it. Had our first beef and guiness
pie  (the pie's sauce is made with guinness) with our first Guiness sitting at an outdoor table watching The town people and visitors go by. SOOO relaxing. London is such a hub and so congested.
