Ready Set. Sorta go

It’s started for sure. The Camino way. But in Chicago. The fellowship of plane travelers (350) bonded in our frustration over plans rerouted to the next day. A baggage cart hit the cargo door so they couldn’t get cabin pressure. Everybody got off the plane and into lines and more waiting. Do-ie overs today. A good night sleep fixes everything.

Top 5 list of when you know they don’t have their shit together
1. No human contact is made for an hour and a half by stewardesses
2. As you deboard the broke plane a cheerful young man says”Welcome to Chicago”
3. All employees flee to higher grounds (meeting on 3rd floor)
4. 3 hours since mass exodus of passengers and crew (but in opposite directions) still no guidance
5. You are local if your ticket has origin Chicago. No hotel voucher for you. 8 hour road trip doesn’t count.

Make that 6. PEOPLE come up with better wording! Like “sorry. Here’s a gesture of kindness and compassion “

Let the Camino Commence

Done with weighing. Done with deciding. Done with planning. Got my pack/got it packed/got my other pack (wink wink). Feels good/feels great! This one’s for you AB. Love you to the moon and back.
But the shirt weighed too much so it’s been replaced by a green one

Calendar of Events Camino 2019

We arrive in St Jean Pied-de-Port on Sunday 30th. Twyla has planned 4 days of our French leg. I like surprises so I’m sorta clueless (she told me but I forget). Something about some towns and the ocean and French food. Enough said...I’m down. Then on Friday we start the Camino.  Tuesday is Pamplona. See previous January 6th post on the bull running (San Fermin). I hope to journal again. It usually ends up short and short. I lasted 4 days with Ro. But two notes caught my eye on the 2017 journal
1. Poor Mary Ellen and her sister Maureen.
They were our roommates the day before we started. We never saw them again. But wondered about them  often. The tiniest lady with the hugest pack without the water weight. The final words we heard from her were “this pack is so heavy with the water). “PoorMary Ellen” would just pop out of our mouths and we shook our heads and paused.
2. I found a great beer (thanks to some German lady who ordered it and I followed suit). 1907
I tried to get it at the liquor store here and no go.

My plan is to instagram and LOS post. One of them has to be a keeper. Right?

I am excited to see if I pull off my goals.
#1 no chucking
#2 no whimping out
My pack with water is 21#.
My hill climbing technique has been fine tuned
🤞

Twyla leaves Friday the 19th and grandkids arrive. Grace 21 Wyatt 18 andMorgan 16. I can’t wait!
Buen Camino!

10 days and figurin’

What to pack. No hill chucking/no trash can throwing allowed this time. And that’s the key word TIME...it’s very telling
