School is done.

We each were given a certificate of completion. Very wonderful to receive. One of the fellow guests added up the dishes we made in the week. It added up to just shy of 50. Today we leave for the shopping leg of the trip. I found some cool Italian everyday white plates. They say Italy on the back...very important!

It's hot here. I miss home. I also need a break from the visiting part of being in a group :] The dinners always start at 8 and go to midnight so it's definitely not what I''m use to. But I have enjoyed the experience immensely and am so grateful for everything. Buen juerno.

Remember to purchase the stemless wine glasses....very important too! May the coming week lighten your coin purse, overflow your suitcases and create a stack of shipping boxes waiting at home for you to open upon your return!

Ditto- Francesca.
Hope you'll have room for some porchini mushrooms(dried and shrink-wrapped at the market).

The Palio was soo very steeped in tradition. Very elaborate and grand. I got pictures. Great food at a restaurant where +5O% of items were sans gluten!
They partied after the race until 5!!! in the morning. :/

This is goat. Siesta time now BUT the winners of the Palio go thru the streets several times a day beating celebration drums so I guess siesta time is over for now :) I'm acclimating to the funky hotel we're in. No air conditioning/5 flights up/shared bath/large open windows with no screens but pigeons and swallows galore. No one appears to be concerned about flying visitors in the rooms. Tonight we cook pasta in our shared kitchen then off in search of stuff. Life is good. But I miss home. See you in Wisconsin.

When u said u scored a room in Siena during Palio, I was impressed. Bet that 5th floor walk-up with shared bath and no air cost as much as your villa room :)
Way cool that u experienced the race first-hand, I have only seen it in pictures and it looked spectacular with all the colors and pagentry !
Enjoy the antique event in Aruzzo. Looking forward to the food and pics when we're in Maiden Rock.
