A Day in the Life of a Pilgrim
We wake up at 6am (the lights are turned on whether you´re ready or not). Then you get dressed, put on your boots and head for any place in town that has opened already to have coffee and a pastry (to die for pastries). This cost 2 euros usually. Then we start walking until 10 or so and take a break. Then walk some more and have lunch. Lunch is either a sandwich or a picnic lunch with bread, cheese, fruit. Then walk some more. One more break. Walk a little more. Then done for the day (between 2-5pm). 10-15 miles with 15-20# backpacks. We meet ALL KINDS of people from all over the world. Unbelievable. Australia, Poland, Canada, Brazil, Africa, Italy, German, France, Belgium, London to name a few. The food is very good. It only cost 10-12 euros for the ¨pilgrim¨supper. It has 3 courses and they cook the main course (meat or fish) to perfection. Absolutely huge portions. But that´s ok because I have a really good appetite here. I had a dessert that tasted just like Mom´s lemon meringue pie filling. Liz had rabbit for the first time last night. She liked it...tastes like chicken. Bye for now.
